Family orphanage

The orphanage in Dokuchayevsk has seven girls, two young men, and a foster Mom and Dad. Before the war, Rinat Akhmetov, the Ukrainian billionaire, was sponsoring this orphanage, but when the war came, he ran to Kiev, and hasn’t been heard from since. The Angel’s house got bombed, more than once, it’s close to the front lines. Mom, due to nervous experiences of this war, fell ill with diabetes. So ‘Donbass Humanitarian Aid’ stepped in and picked up the slack. The Republic gives money every month, but nine growing kids are always ready to eat, and sometimes the food runs out before the month does. So, we make a bit of a road trip, bring food, cleaning supplies, socks, etc. And also such expensive test strips for measuring blood sugar for Mom. It’s a great excuse to visit some really sweet genuine Angels. Furniture for orphans

A resident of the DPR, Nikolai Vasilyevich, applied to “Donbass Humanitarian Aid” Foundation with a request to accept a big donation from him for DPR people who are in need of some furniture in good condition: a King Size bed with a mattress, an armchair, a sofa that can be used as a bed, a kitchen table, two TV stands, a mirror, a Soviet set of four sideboards and in-and-out desk, a writing desk with some drawers, a beautiful bathroom shelf with a mirror, lighting and a cabinet, two large beautiful chandeliers, a couple of curtains and four undercurtains. We never doubted it for a second who were in dire need of these things – the seven orphans (one is already a young adult) with their grandmother Olga from Khanzhenkovo. Anyone who has seen what conditions they live in, what beds and mattresses they sleep on, will agree with us. Our fund paid for the work of the movers and the delivery itself from the Kirovsky district of Donetsk to the family’s place of residence in the village of Khanzhenkovo in the Soviet district of Makeevka. It’s a long ride! The granny was overwhelmed by such a generous donation for a long time, because Nikolai Vasilyevich could have simply sold everything and could have replenished the budget of his own family. And the children were gloriously happy having all their new asquisitions, especially the large mattress! The family decided that they would cope with the furniture assembly by themselves – there are kind people “with hands and heads on their shoulders” who will help. Many thanks to the truck driver for the delivery and for providing such good movers. We want to thank them separately for giving us a small discount and for responding to our request for advice if something is not clear about the assembly of the furniture and the chandeliers, since it was them who carefully folded each bolt and bar so that nothing would have been lost. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this noble mission! He that giveth shall not lack! Amen.

Step Closer

On Saturday, September 5th, we gave a piece of our hearts to one of the most unprotected little people – disabled children from the Khartsyzsk city society of disabled people “Sparkle” and the public organization of disabled people “Step Closer” of Donetsk. “Donbass Humanitarian Aid” purchased and prepared for them 50 gift sets, which were presented on the “Schoolchildren’s Holiday” timed to coincide with the beginning of the new school year. And also three packs of face painting for a festive celebration. Among these special children were both first graders and children of second and third grades. Some go to school, and some are homeschooled. We hope that our gifts, together with sweet surprises inside, will bring many joyful moments and a wonderful mood for both the children themselves and their parents! Those children who could not come to the holiday will be sure to receive our gifts separately.
We also got gifts – drawings of the children. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this wonderful holiday! God save us all!

School supply for front line zone

On August 28th, Fund “Donbass Humanitarian Aid” returned to Petrovsky District of Donetsk with school supplies and face masks (in case they need them) for 35 kids who lost their Dads or Moms in the war. As of now, there are no regulations for kids of any age to have to wear masks at school. We thank Yevstifeev Roman for the opportunity to hand over all the stuff on the area of their great museum, based in School #101. We also brought a non-contact thermometer for the children who used to go to School #106 until it was destroyed by the Ukrainian terrorist shelling. Since 2014 the schoolchildren and their teachers have been welcomed to take one of the floors of a different school which isn’t in the so called “Red Zone”. Later, we delivered some clothes from our Colombian comrade Luis Hernando Castaneda to the humanitarian warehouse. All the clothes will go to those kids and parents who are in real need of them. A big thank-you to Luis! And thanks to all who are contributing to our missions of mercy and support. We are keeping busy, and helping make the world a better place, lots of people at a time. And remember, what goes around, comes around!

TWO missions – ONE day

“Donbass Humanitarian Aid” (DHA) in Donetsk, DPR brought 20,000 roubles worth of school supplies for 30 kids to the warehouse of the International Volunteer Group “Moscow-Donbass” today here in Donetsk, which will be distributed by our friends to the kids living in Red and Grey Zones right near the Front.
THEN, DHA drove to Khanzhenkovo to deliver school and hygiene supplies, food and medicine to Olga, the Grandma (“Babushka”) and the six grandchildren (orphans) she takes care of. A long drive on rough roads, from Kievsky district in Donetsk to way on the other side of Soviet district of Makeevka.
The missions have been accomplished.

Family from front line

Today “Donbass Humanitarian Aid” went out by the Donetsk airport to visit a family we have met and helped before. Dima, his wife Katya and their 3 cute kids Darina, Nikita and Andrey, have lived in their house since before the war. It has been hit several times, and is still in the Red Zone, so does not qualify for reconstruction funding from the Republic.Still, Dima has financed and made major repairs himself, and the house is now normal and comfortable, even if still vulnerable to the Ukrainian Army shelling at any time. When we were there today, bringing school supplies and a few sweets for the kids, we asked how the combat situation was in their neighborhood. They said it was quiet, but the quiet makes them equally as nervous as the thunder of shelling, because they know the war is not over yet, and they are waiting…It was not a big human aid project, just school supplies and sweets for 3 little kids who have grown up under war their whole lives. Still, school supplies are needed, and more than anything, these kids need to know they are not forgotten, which is what we showed them today, THANKS to all who contributed, and so went with us today in spirit, to visit kids who have lived their whole lives on the front lines of a war that never should have happened.

Specialized child care center

Today we returned to the specialized child care center in Kievsky District in Donetsk by the airport. Our friend and comrade Gennady sews clothing, and he put the machine to good use creating three brightly colored beanbag chairs for the kids. All kids have sat in a beanbag chair, it’s part of being a kid! Thanks to Gennady and his crew for the kind gesture from the heart for the sweet little kids!

A TRULY INTERNATIONAL MISSION

A Korean in Russia Donates About 700 KG of Humanitarian Aid to a Texan in Donetsk Through Florida Orthodox Fund. Alexandr Ten from the village of Kuleshovka, Rostov Oblast, Russia has donated 159 packages (30 items each) almost $3,000 worth of adult diapers to sick people in Donbass through ‘Donbass Humanitarian Aid’ fund as a tribute to Stepan Ten, his father, who passed away from cancer. Alexandr Kim really helped with storing the diapers in a garage, preparing them for the future transporting, and then delivering them to the destination point with the help of our friends Helen Romanenko and the International Volunteer Group “Moscow-Donbass”. First of all, the diapers will be given to sick people of the most shelled areas of Petrovsky District of Donetsk and the village of Alexandrovka, and other disabled people young and old. Thanks to all caring people.

Mission to Kievsky District of Donetsk

Today ‘Donbass Humanitarian Aid’ fund brought 60 roofing tiles to Yelena Antonovna, a widow in the Kievsky District about 500 meters from the Donetsk airport. Her husband died before the war, and in 2014, her house got hit by the Ukrainian MRLS ‘Grad’. She was wounded, and the roof of her house was badly damaged. With help from her son and neighbors, she repaired her roof, but her house has gotten hit every year since. You may ask “What’s the use of fixing the roof if it’s only going to get hit again?” A leaking roof can totally destroy a house in a few years. We’ve got a single widow here, living under heavy shelling, including ‘Grads’, for over six years. OF COURSE we are going to help her! It was $180 for 60 roofing tiles, which means she’ll be warm and dry through the Autumn rains and Winter snow. We got a great deal, even the ‘Galaxy’ store where we bought the tiles donated free delivery, which was a huge help. And THANKS to ALL who contributed to our work! Even in tough times, we can still make the world a better place, together.

Home made water park in Snezhnoe

In the heat of Summer, one of our coolest projects yet! “Donbass Humanitarian Aid” got together with the parents’ group and kid’s club in Snezhnoye and did some more work on the Recycled Park. The park was built on the land of an abandoned house, all materials used were recycled or donated. On previous missions there, we contributed a trampoline, a projector for free Summer Movie Nights, even a small 3-D printer for the after school kid’s Science Club. This time, we donated plastic, hoses and a water pump for a home-made water slide and pool for the kids. Everybody pitched in to help with construction, and as you can see, the kids LOVE it! We also brought four cocoon swings and 3 wigwam tents for the kids to enjoy and we all had a real good time. This shows what can be done when good people work together for a good cause. We can do so much with just a little, but every bit helps. THANKS to all who did their part and contributed what they could. Together, we are making a better world for everybody, one kid at a time!
