Mom from Novobeshevo

Just before Easter the Donbass Humanitarian Aid crew took a road trip to the village of Novobeshevo in DPR, which saw heavy fighting in 2014. Julia and her 6 kids are in tough times, no jobs out in the country, small relief payments from the Republic, house needs repairs, and kids need some food and traditional Orthodox cakes for Easter. So we brought our standard packet of food donations – lots of everything! Plus apples, sweets and candy, flour and raisins for traditional Russian Easter cakes. This was our first trip to help Julia and the kids, but it won’t be our last!

The sponsors also donated a blanket, a pillow, footwear and some children’s toys. Unfortunately, the Free Store still has no water or electricity, and has been hit directly by heavy artillery of the Ukrainian Army Forces. Nevertheless, it still operates with the help of dedicated volunteers. Thanks to all who pitched in, together we are making a better world for everybody, one life at a time!

Thanks to all who go with us in spirit by contributing to our work and kids and families like these. What goes around comes around, and mercy will be shown to the merciful. Christ is Risen!

We once again sponsored the Greco-Roman wrestling tournament in memory of the famous Donetsk coach, master of sports of the USSR Vasily Bagrov. The competition took place in the ‘Kirovets’ sports palace in Donetsk. We helped to purchase prizes, medals, cups and sweets for the children. The tournament has been held for six years now, and for all the years of the war, our foundation has been helping these young athletes. These kids, under the guidance of experienced trainers, learn to work on themselves, improve their physical shape and discipline. We would like to thank the organizers of the children’s tournament and all our sponsors and volunteers. Sport is peace!

Special chair

Two single mothers both named Irina, who at the moment cannot work, as they are caring for their sick children, contacted the ‘Donbass Humanitarian Aid’ Foundation. One of the women is a resident of the city of Kirovskoye, which endured an unbearably terrible six months of hostilities. One day was more terrible than the next with pleas for the horror of the war to end as soon as possible. But trouble does not come alone. Irina gave birth to a healthy baby, Egor. After a while, signs of a neurological disease began to appear. Now Egor is two years old, but he cannot even crawl and sit, he cannot hold his head up. In the Donetsk Regional Scientific and Practical Center for the Rehabilitation of Children with Cerebral Palsy and Diseases of the Nervous System, they set an optimistic prognosis for his recovery. At the moment, little Egor needs a special chair with a high back, a soft area near the head and straps to fix the child on the chair, so that he learns to sit first. And also a special neck brace to help Egor learn to hold his head up normally. The second woman’s family has two children who also suffered from the war. Unfortunately, extreme stress triggered autism in the youngest girl Sofia. She also regularly undergoes rehabilitation at the same center as Egor, also with a good prognosis. Between the courses of rehabilitation, the girl needs treatment with prescribed medications. Our foundation was able to help these two children in everything they need at the moment thanks to the help of Roman, a young parishioner of the Russian Orthodox Church in Tampa, Florida, USA. Roma recently celebrated his eighth birthday. Friends gave him birthday money, but he decided to give this money to the needs of the children of Donbass who suffered from the war.

In gratitude, Egor’s mother wrote the following: “Thank you so much! You have worked a miracle for us! To be honest, this is the first time this happens to us. You instilled such a strong faith, literally breathed life, because, even it’s scary to talk about it, I was already about to give up … ”

We wish these children and everyone who is sick a speedy recovery. Thanks to ALL donors and volunteers of our foundation! We accept any help, so join us!

The big generosity of little hearts

Grandmother Helen lives with her three grandchildren in Florida. And grandmother Olga lives with her six grandchildren in the DPR. The distance between them is 9700 km or 6050 miles. But there is no distance for kindness and mercy. The family of grandma named Helen lives very modestly, so her grandchildren had been saving money to buy a cherished game. However, having seen the orphans in need from Khanzhenkovo in the DPR (where the war is taking place) in a video report, Roma and Anya decided to donate the content of their piggy banks to those children. The donation was $ 204. At the request of grandma Olga money was used to purchase what they urgently needed at the moment. First of all, these were materials for repair: cement, sand, oil and waterproofing paint, as well as putty for repairing their kitchen, since it is simply in a terrible state. The second main topic was tall table lamps of good quality, since the children had only one small, not very good one. We also bought them 10 energy-saving bulbs for the whole house, and now they will pay much less for electricity. The children also need vitamins in winter, so two boxes of apples will replenish their supplies for a while, along with cookies and waffles for tea. We believe that this story about little children and their big donation will change the world for the better, soften the evil and hardened hearts.

Grandma Olga and her grandkids

It is so beautiful – every time we go to visit Grandma Olya and her six orphan kids, life is getting better for them. This trip we brought lots of food, fruits, home cleaning and personal hygiene supplies, Christmas presents and candy, two of our famous wigwams and two ‘Сocoon’ swings. The kids LOVED them! We also brought a sink for the boys bathroom, and slowly but steadily, step by step, we are rebuilding their broke down house into a nice warm home.
THANKS to all who contribute!
